WOCAN making History!
Today we would like to start the first Friday in Black History Month with a highlight of an amazing organization called WOCAN!This organization was founded by women of color, to support women of color. This historic non-profit is the first auto organization that caters to women of color and their growth, along with their development as well. The founders are all very successful women who believe that there should be more representation and support in the automotive industry.
Amongst the founders is our very own, Chief #sheCAnic Patrice Banks who is the founder and CEO of Girls Auto Clinic! Alongside Patrice is Amanda Gordon who is the founder and CEO of GoJo Auto, a top-rated and dynamic independent car dealership located in the heart of Denver, Colorado. Erikka Wells is a Sales and Marketing Manager with over 15 years of experience within the automotive field, while also being a motivational speaker. Finally, Kerri Wise is the Vice President of Corporate Marketing at TrueCar, which is an online marketplace for car shopping. Kerri is in charge of overseeing all communication efforts and initiatives being President. She formally served on the board of Women in Automotive.
These powerful women joined forces to create WOCAN, to support and empower minority women of color in the auto industry through education, networking, scholarships, career development, and mentorship.
We love to see our black women doing wonderful, life-changing things not only for themselves but for other women as well. Here at Girls Auto Clinic, we hope that you will take this month to celebrate not only the legends of our past, also the many black legends of today that have truly made an impact in this world.
