Empowering Future Shecanics: A Day with Girl Scouts at Girls Auto Clinic

At Girls Auto Clinic, every day is an opportunity to inspire and educate the next generation of empowered women. This Women’s Month, we had the privilege of hosting eight Girl Scouts from Troop 2508 in Chalfont, PA. On March 28th, these bright third-grade young ladies, who are students at Butler Elementary, embarked on a journey into the world of automotive repair and innovation.

Girls Scouts Field Trip to Girls Auto Clinic

The excitement was palpable as the girls stepped into our repair center. Eager to learn and explore, they received a comprehensive tour of the facility, gaining insights of an auto repair shop operation. After the shop tour, the girls got a mini lesson on how cars work. From the moment they popped open hoods to check oil levels, to the hands-on experience of building their very own solar-powered or battery-powered cars, the girls dove into every activity with enthusiasm, curiosity, and determination.

I guided them each step of the way, fostering a supportive environment where they could freely explore their interests in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). While there wasn’t enough time for manicures after their hard work, the girls left with something even more empowering – shecanic stickers and coloring activities featuring trailblazers like Patrice Banks (that’s me!) and other women who have made their mark in STEM fields.

The girls loved this part the most!

The day was not just about learning practical skills; it was about instilling confidence and igniting passions. As the girls immersed themselves in hands-on projects, they discovered the thrill of problem-solving and the satisfaction of seeing their ideas come to life. Through their interactions with our staff and each other, they learned the importance of teamwork and perseverance – qualities that will serve them well in any endeavor they pursue.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Troop 2508 for their enthusiasm and thoughtful questions throughout the day. Their curiosity and eagerness to learn were truly inspiring. We also want to thank the parents who chaperoned the visit and reached out to us to arrange this enriching experience for their daughters.

At Girls Auto Clinic, we are committed to nurturing potential of young women and empowering the next generation of shecanics – fearless, capable, and ready to take on the world!
